They say love turns a blind eye to flaws, and people will do anything to win love. But what do you call someone who blinds their beloved with their own hands?
Despite becoming blind at the hands of her lover, why does this woman choose to marry him? How does she find out that her blindness was due to her lover’s criminal mindset?
In today’s video, we will provide detailed information about the man who, in his quest for love, had her blinded by criminals and how he managed to marry her afterward.
This man’s name is Bert, and he is a lawyer by profession. One day, he meets a woman named Linda and becomes infatuated with her. He likes Linda immensely and feels he cannot live without her.
Bert goes to great lengths to win Linda’s love. He brings her flowers, takes her to expensive hotels for dinner—he leaves no stone unturned to make sure Linda loves him. He also brings her gifts and even waits outside her house every morning to drive her to work.
The Obsession That Led to Violence
However, things start to go very wrong. They date for almost a year, and then one night during a date, Linda learns that Bert is actually already married. He has a wife and a child, and this news hits Linda like a bolt of lightning, making her extremely angry. But Bert tells her, “Look, it’s okay! I’m actually in the process of getting a divorce.”
Still, Linda is not pleased at all. Bert then tries everything he can to win back Linda’s heart. One day he shows her divorce papers, but when she investigates, she discovers that the papers Bert showed her are fake. Given these circumstances, Linda decides to leave Bert for good and moves on with her life. She has no option but to forget the deception Bert put her through and start anew.
Linda’s Struggle for Independence
One day, Linda meets a man named Larry, and they start dating. Larry is a good guy, and after a few months, they get engaged. When Bert hears about this engagement, he becomes very angry and decides that he will not give up; he will go to any lengths to win Linda back.
The Aftermath of Betrayal
He keeps calling her repeatedly and sends letters, flowers, and gifts. He even contacts her friends to use them as messengers for his loving messages.
Bert tries every possible tactic to win back Linda’s heart, but when all his efforts fail, he begins planning different strategies. He starts threatening Linda. He stalks her constantly and even throws rocks at her window to scare her.
Bert goes so far as to tell Linda that he will soon send some goons to kill her. However, none of these threats have any effect on Linda; she continues spending time with Larry.
Linda ignores any threats from Bert until one day his words become true. There’s a knock at her door; when she goes to answer it, she finds three men standing there. One of them has a jar in hand and throws its contents in Linda’s face.
As soon as the substance hits Linda’s face, it starts burning immediately, causing her to scream as she has no idea what has been thrown at her while the three men escape from the scene.
Shortly after this incident, an ambulance arrives outside Linda’s house and takes her to the hospital where she undergoes multiple surgeries over nearly three months in an effort to recover fully. Unfortunately, this attack ultimately leaves her completely blind in one eye while partially affecting the vision in the other eye.
Once she is discharged from the hospital, Linda immediately meets with her fiancé Larry. They discuss for quite some time and decide that they should not move forward together and break off their engagement because they fear that if they stay together, Bert might attack again. Linda knows that Bert is not someone who would stay quiet; he would cause significant harm to both of their lives.
They say that if you don’t want a crime to be discovered, it won’t be hidden for long—this is exactly what happens with Bert. The police investigating the substance thrown at Linda manage to arrest the goons four months later who were hired by Bert to teach Linda a lesson.
A Twisted Journey Through the Justice System
During questioning of the goons, it comes out that they were hired by Bert. The police present both the goons and Bert in court where he is sentenced to 15 years in prison after proceedings conclude. It seemed like Bert would fix his life after this sentence; however, that doesn’t happen as he continues writing letters to Linda from jail expressing his love for her.
While Bert was in jail, Linda’s life had turned into hell; she was living almost like a blind person while also facing financial difficulties in New York City where she felt lonely. To cope with this loneliness, she ends up falling back into Bert’s trap by responding to his letters.
When Bert learns about Linda’s financial situation, he starts sending money because he had been working even while in prison. Whatever little money he had was regularly sent to Linda as their contact continues for 14 years.
Eventually, the day comes when Bert’s sentence ends and he is released from prison. After getting out, he starts meeting with Linda again but also begins receiving media attention since he is now known as the man who blinded his ex-girlfriend years ago.
Bert gets invited for an interview on TV; during the live show, he turns towards the camera and proposes to Linda in front of the whole world!
It’s ironic that the same person who turned Linda’s life into hell is now proposing publicly! But that’s how life works—when you are vulnerable, people start imposing their will on you.
After living through hell for several years, just eight months after being released from jail, Linda marries Bert—the man who caused so much pain in her life! They begin what seems like a happy life together… or so it appears.
Twenty years pass; during this time, Bert remains unfaithful and has affairs with multiple women. One day one of his mistresses comes forward claiming she has been having an affair with him for five years but recently he started harassing and threatening her—just like how he treated poor Linda!
This mistress files charges against him; during the trial where Linda appears as a character witness for Bert saying “Oh no! He would never hurt anyone!” Ultimately Bert escapes most charges but is convicted of second-degree harassment.
About 15 years after this trial, unfortunately, Linda passes away.
Reflections on Love, Crime, and Consequences
Years later when Bert is 93 years old, his much younger caretaker allegedly swindles him out of his $15 million fortune right before he dies—what a tragic twist in this already complicated story!
