SAN ANTONIO – A fire broke out early Tuesday morning at an apartment complex on the east side, leaving all residents unharmed.

However, a neighbor reported that ten newborn puppies and their mother did not survive.

The fire occurred in the 4500 block of Lavender Lane near South WW White Road.

Firefighters arrived to find a first-floor unit engulfed in flames. They quickly ensured that all other residents evacuated safely.

Authorities stated that around 15 dogs lived in the apartment. Two newborn puppies and two dogs tied outside managed to survive, according to San Antonio Animal Care Services.

Officials confirmed that no one was inside the unit where the fire started.

Fire crews contained the flames quickly, preventing the fire from spreading to nearby apartments.

Investigators have been called to determine the cause of the blaze.
