FAISALABAD (Staff Report): Marking a new chapter in the university’s journey, the Government College University Faisalabad Vice Chancellor Dr. Rauf-I- Azam laid the foundation stone of a community college at the New Campus on Jhang Road on Wednesday.
University alumnus, Engineer Qamar Zaman, who has always had a heart of gold for Pakistan, donated a significant amount for the construction of the school.
Vice-Chancellor’s Vision and Gratitude
Addressing the gathering, the Vice-Chancellor said that this is not just a school but the realization of a great educational dream, a beacon of hope for the children. The initiative will steer children towards a brighter future.
He thanked Engineer Zaman on behalf of the university for throwing his weight behind the community school project.
Dr. Azam announced that an Endowment Fund will be set up at the university to provide scholarships to students and support the university community. He assured that no stone would be left unturned in promoting education.
Opening doors to education for many, the community school will enroll children of university staff and local residents from nursery to grade five. This school is expected to become a feather in the cap of both the university and the surrounding community in the future.
Alumnus’s Fond Memories and Continued Support
On the occasion, Engineer Zaman, walking down memory lane, said that he received his intermediate education from Government College Faisalabad.
“Although I have been living in the United States for years, my love for Pakistan and Government College Faisalabad still burns brightly in my heart.”
He assured everyone that he will always be ready to lend a hand in the development of Faisalabad and Pakistan. He also announced scholarships for students and wished the school’s administration and the children all the best, hoping they would hit the ground running.
Previous Contributions and Community Support
Proving his commitment to education time and again, Engineer Zaman had donated nearly Rs 4 million for the expansion and renovation of the main library at the Old Campus.
Standing shoulder to shoulder in support of this noble cause, university alumni, directors, and faculty members were also present at the ceremony.
