A six-month-old baby has died from injuries sustained in a dog attack at a Baytown apartment complex, local authorities confirmed today.

The attack occurred at the Inverness Gardens apartments on East James Street, as first reported by KHOU 11.

According to the Baytown Police Department, officers responded to the emergency around 3:50 p.m. yesterday.

The critically injured infant was rushed to a nearby hospital but was later pronounced dead.

Police confirmed that the dogs involved in the attack belonged to the child’s parents.

This detail was corroborated by neighbors and later verified by Click2Houston through law enforcement sources.

Following the tragic event, Baytown Animal Services took custody of both dogs.

Eyewitness Ken Sheltoe described the aftermath of the attack, telling KHOU 11, “It wasn’t pretty. There was blood all over the baby’s head. Prayers out to the baby.”

He also characterized at least one of the dogs as “aggressive.”

The exact circumstances leading up to the attack remain unclear, and city officials have yet to release details on the fate of the dogs or potential legal consequences for the owners.

A witness, who requested anonymity, recounted to KHOU 11 the heartbreaking moment when the baby’s mother cried out, “God, I trust you, God, I trust you,” while holding her injured child.

As the investigation continues, no arrests have been made, and no charges have been filed at this time.
