Changan Automobile achieves record sales in 2023, targets Electric Intelligence in 2024

In 2023, Changan Automobile’s sales reached 2.5531 million vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 8.82%; of which, the sales of self-owned brands were 2.0978 million vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 11.91%, accounting for more than 80% of the total sales.

A research report from Soochow Securities shows that looking forward to 2024, Changan Automobile will target electric intelligent transformation and globalization, and multiple brands will work together to drive development.

Taking the three major brands of Kaiyuan, Deep Blue and Avita as the starting point, the company will continue to launch a number of new models in 2024, using Huawei’s intelligent technology to deeply empower the product market competitiveness, and achieve domestic rise with the dividends of the electric smart industry.

In 2023, when “price wars” continued one after another, Changan Automobile ended with excellent market performance. Recently, Chongqing Changan Automobile Co., Ltd. released data showing that in 2023, Changan Automobile sales reached 2.5531 million vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 8.82%.

Among them, the sales volume of self-owned brands was 2.0978 million units, a year-on-year increase of 11.91%; the sales volume of self-owned passenger cars was 1.597 million units, a year-on-year increase of 14.86%; the overseas sales of self-owned brands were 236,400 units, a year-on-year increase of 39.23%.

In addition, with the support of the three major brands of “Deep Blue + Qiyuan + Avita”, Changan Automobile’s independent brand new energy sales continue to soar. In December 2023, Changan Automobile’s self-owned brand new energy sales volume was 59,400 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 31.27%; cumulative sales from January to December were 474,000 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 74.77%.

“In 2023, Changan Automobile’s independent brand new energy and overseas sales will hit record highs.” Changan Automobile said that the company will strive for progress while maintaining stability, promote stability through advancement, establish first and then break, and sprint into 2024, vowing to win the annual production The business goal is to firmly move towards a first-class automobile brand.

Specifically, in 2023, Changan’s CS75 series sales will reach 250,000 units, ranking among the best in the market segment; sales of the Eado series will exceed 170,000 units, with average monthly sales remaining above 10,000 units.

In addition, Changan CS55 series, UNI series, etc. have maintained a growth trend, further consolidating Changan Automobile’s market share of fuel vehicles.

In the field of new energy, Deep Blue Motors has delivered a total of 136,900 vehicles in 2023, with 18,300 vehicles delivered in December. The cumulative delivery of Deep Blue SL03 exceeded 100,000 vehicles, leading domestic new energy brands; the cumulative sales of Changan Qiyuan exceeded 40,000 vehicles, with deliveries in December 6,926 vehicles, quickly occupying the new smart car track.

Driven by the “Gemini”, Avita delivered 6,106 vehicles in December. Among them, Avita 12, which has been on the market for just over a month, delivered 2,004 units, entering the forefront of pure electric sedans with more than 300,000 units; Avita 11 delivered 4,102 units, achieving positive month-on-month growth for six consecutive months.

At the same time, Avita’s top management has recently experienced intensive changes in defense. First, Zhu Huarong, chairman of Changan Automobile, also served as chairman of Avita, and Wang Xiaofei, vice president of Changan Automobile, assisted in the work.

Then, Chen Zhuo was promoted to president of Avita, taking full responsibility for operations and management. This also shows the importance Changan Automobile attaches to Avita and its determination to make this high-end new energy brand a success.

Focusing on the joint venture segment, Changan Ford and Changan Mazda both achieved substantial growth in December, with sales of 28,084 vehicles and 11,028 vehicles respectively, representing year-on-year increases of 47.16% and 73.07% respectively.

But from a full-year perspective, Changan Ford and Changan Mazda sold 233,122 vehicles and 88,662 vehicles respectively, down 7.13% and 14.77% year-on-year.

It is worth noting that Changan Automobile has accelerated its intelligent transformation and signed an “Investment Cooperation Memorandum” with Huawei.

The two parties plan to establish a new company to focus on the research and development, production, sales, and development of intelligent driving systems and incremental components for intelligent connected vehicles.

The services and plans involve integrating the core technologies and resources of the smart car solution business into the new company. Changan Automobile and related parties will be interested in investing in the company.

In the field of energy replenishment, Changan Automobile and NIO signed a cooperation agreement on battery swap business in Chongqing. The two parties will promote the establishment of battery swap standards, the construction and sharing of battery swap networks, the research and development of battery swap models, and the establishment of an efficient battery asset management mechanism.

Expand Cooperation. “Relevant cooperation is progressing smoothly,” Changan Automobile responded on the investor relations platform.

In 2023, while Changan Automobile’s export sales will increase significantly, it will also start localization in overseas markets. On November 27, the Changan Automobile brand’s Southeast Asian press conference was held in Bangkok, Thailand, bringing two new energy products DEEPAL L07 and DEEPAL S07, and opened full reservations; Avita 11 and Avita 12 also made their debut in Thailand.

It is understood that when Changan Automobile established the Southeast Asia Business Department, it also established three local companies and localized operation teams: Changan Automobile Southeast Asia, Changan Thailand Sales, and Changan Thailand Parts.

The construction of a new energy vehicle production base in Thailand has begun. From brand establishment to overseas integration of the entire system of research, production, supply, sales and service, we have realized the transition from “product overseas” to “brand overseas”.
