Staff Report
LAHORE– The Young Doctors Association (YDA) Punjab has strongly condemned the VIP culture, calling it an oppressive burden for the health sector.

At a press conference held at Jinnah Hospital Lahore on Wednesday, Dr. Shoaib Niazi, President of YDA Punjab, along with Dr. Salman, patron-in-chief, and Dr. Mudassar Nawaz, Chairman, said that two lady doctors were left out in the cold and suspended at Sahiwal Hospital after failing to provide pillows to the mother-in-law of a Member of the Punjab Assembly (MPA) in the emergency ultrasound room.

They also brought to light that four more doctors–Dr. Hamza Nazir, (President of Jinnah Hospital), Dr. Ahmad Gujjar (President of Mayo Hospital), Dr. Mudassir Malik, and Dr. Fahad–were shown the door for allegedly running a social media campaign.

They alleged that the MPA is the mastermind behind a mafia involving contractors and storekeepers in the hospital. They said this MPA pulled the strings to launch a conspiracy against MS Dr. Yadullah, who had previously cracked down on this mafia.

Allegations Against MPA: Hospital Mafia and Conspiracy

In a well-orchestrated move, they claimed the MPA’s mother-in-law was taken to the ultrasound room, where other patients were pushed aside. During her ultrasound, the table sheet was changed upon her request. However, the MPA’s wife cooked up a story about the lack of pillows in the ultrasound room.

This fabricated tale led to the unjust suspension of the two young lady doctors, they claimed.

After this, some doctors spoke up on social media against the suspensions. Then, the MPA, with the backing from other parliamentarians, succeeded in getting four more doctors fired.

The YDA alleged that the Secretary of Health took action against these doctors without conducting any formal inquiry. The officer, they claimed, bowed down to pressure from politicians rather than upholding justice.

The YDA office bearers demanded the immediate reinstatement of the penalized young doctors. They announced that the YDA Punjab will hold a protest against the illegal and unethical decision of the Health Department.
