The West Fargo Police Department is alerting residents about a scam in which fraudsters are using the department’s phone number to deceive people.

Victims receive calls informing them of outstanding warrants or requesting information for an investigation.

This tactic, known as spoofing, allows scammers to make their calls appear as if they are coming from the police department.

Authorities urge residents to verify any suspicious calls by directly contacting the West Fargo Police Department through an official number.

Anyone receiving such fraudulent calls should report them to the Red River Regional Dispatch Center at 701-451-7660.
