LAHORE–The Punjab Police is planning to improve traffic management using Japan-style infrared and ultrasonic sensor technology.
This was disclosed by Inspector General of Punjab Police Dr. Usman Anwar, on Friday while addressing a gathering organized in connection with promotion of Rawalpindi Division policemen.
The ceremony, held at the Central Police Office, included badge pinning for 62 policemen who were promoted to the rank of Inspector.
Many family members of the promoted officers, including parents and children, were also present on the occasion.
Dr. Anwar congratulated the new Inspectors and their families.
Fast-Track Promotion Program Continues
The IGP said that Punjab Police is continuing its fast-track promotion program and that this year, 4,000 Inspectors are expected to be promoted.
“Punjab Police will break last year’s record,” he added, noting that promotions will also be given to 645 Inspectors and Senior Traffic Wardens.
He praised Rawalpindi Police for their excellent performance in law and order, crime control, and public service delivery.
Zero tolerance for corruption and misconduct
He emphasized that accountability in Punjab Police is stronger than in any other department. A structured promotion calendar has been prepared for all cadres, and zero tolerance is being maintained for corruption and misconduct.
He urged the promoted officers to serve citizens with honesty and integrity.
The IG also said that promotions and welfare programs should encourage fearless protection of citizens and selfless service.
Additional IG Sultan Ahmed Chaudhry, DIG Establishment-I Suleman Sultan Rana, DIG Establishment-II Liaqat Ali Malik, DIG Operations Lahore Muhammad Faisal Kamran, SSP MT Anoush Masood Chaudhry, AIGs, SPs, SDPOs, and other senior officers also attended the event.
