It is hard to believe that criminals would badly injure a dog walker just to steal two dogs. Why were these dogs so important, and who owned them? Today’s blog will answer these questions.
The Violent Attack on Ryan
One night, a man named Ryan was walking three dogs. He worked as a dog walker, and the dogs belonged to a client. While he was out walking, a car suddenly stopped near him, and two men got out.
One of the men attacked Ryan, punching him in the face, while the other tried to strangle him. They wanted to steal the dogs. Despite severe torture and the violence, Ryan refused to give up the dogs.
He bravely fought without any fear. Then, one of the criminals pulled out a pistol and shot Ryan in the chest. Ryan fell to the ground, and the thieves immediately jumped into the car with two dogs and fled from the spot. A third accomplice was already waiting in the driver’s seat.
The three sped away, leaving Ryan in a pool of blood. Despite his deteriorating condition, the brave Ryan kept the third dog close to his chest.
The Criminal Mastermind Behind the Theft
One of these thieves was named Jaylen. Jaylen and his friends planned to steal French Bulldogs in Los Angeles and sell them for thousands of dollars. That’s why they attacked Ryan.
The day after the theft, Jaylen noticed a social media post showing photos of the missing dogs. A hefty reward for their return was announced for anyone who finds them.
The post also revealed that the dogs actually belonged to Lady Gaga, and the reward money was a staggering $500,000. The reward money jolted Jaylen, who saw it as a jackpot that could make him rich overnight.
A Risky Plan to Claim the Reward
But Jaylen faced a problem: he could not return the dogs himself, as he was one of the thieves who had stolen them. So he involved his father, Harry Old White, in the plan.
Harry also had a problem like his son: a previous criminal record. He couldn’t return the dogs either.
Sensing the situation, they now needed someone unsuspecting to do it for them. Finally, Harry discussed the plan with his girlfriend, Mick Bride. They decided that Mick Bride would ‘find’ the dogs on the street and return them to claim the reward.
The Police Uncover the Truth
Two days after the theft, Jaylen or one of his friends tied the dogs to a pole in a pre-arranged location. Shortly after, Mick Bride arrived at the designated spot and ‘discovered’ the dogs. Finally, she took them to the police station, inquiring about Lady Gaga’s prize money.
Seeing the two dogs together, the police immediately became suspicious. They reviewed the CCTV footage from the area where Mick Bride claimed to have found the dogs.
The footage clearly showed a car pulling up, a man getting out, and tying the dogs to a pole. The police checked the license plate of the car and discovered that it belonged to Harry Old White, father of Jaylen.
Social Media Clues Lead to Arrests
The police quickly checked Harry’s Instagram and Facebook accounts, which revealed pictures of him with Mick Bride. Mick was the woman who brought the two dogs to the police station.
After receiving a report of the dog’s theft, police were already investigating the issue and succeeded in preparing a list of suspects. Jaylen was also one of the suspects under investigation by the police. As the police dug deeper into the case, they discovered that Jaylen is Harry’s son.
Justice is Served
Eventually, the police arrested all accused, including Mick Bride, Harry, Jaylen, and the other two men. The court handed down punishments to all of them.
Mick Bride, however, was released on two years of probation as a part of a plea deal.
A Shocking Lawsuit Against Lady Gaga
Unbelievably, she did not give up her efforts to claim the reward money announced by Lady Gaga. She hired the services of a lawyer and filed a lawsuit against Lady Gaga for $500,000. She argued that Lady Gaga’s post promised a reward to anyone who returned the dogs. Since she returned them, she was entitled to the reward money.
Besides, she also filed another million-dollar lawsuit against Lady Gaga, claiming that she deserved the money due to mental anguish and loss of enjoyment of life.
The Punishments for the Criminals
Jaylen received a four-year sentence, while the other burglar received a six-year sentence. The man who shot and wounded Ryan received a 21-year sentence.
Ryan’s Survival and Return to Work
Ryan, the hero of the story, was rushed to the hospital after the dog-stealing incident. Doctors left no stone unturned to treat his injuries, including his fractured ribs. He survived and returned to his work as a dog walker.
