An early morning fire in Richmond has led to the disappearance of an elderly woman, sparking an urgent search by authorities.

The Richmond Fire Department responded to a house fire around 6:30 a.m. on Thursday in the 100 block of Fort Street.

After extinguishing the flames, firefighters discovered that the homeowner, who was believed to be inside before the fire, was missing.

Family members identified the missing woman as 88-year-old Loretta Dickson Turner. She is about 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighs 130 pounds, and has brown eyes.

Though her natural hair is short and black, she frequently wears a wig and was last seen with a maroon one.

Investigators have not yet determined if foul play is involved. However, her family finds it unusual that she would leave without informing anyone.

Authorities are still investigating the fire’s cause, but their primary concern is locating Loretta Dickson Turner.

The Richmond Police Department has officially listed her as a missing person.

Detectives urge anyone with information about her whereabouts or the incident to contact the Richmond Police Department at (281) 342-2849.
