Wealth is not everything; true wealth lies in respect. If you have respect among people, there is no greater wealth. However, in today’s story, we will tell you about a doctor who was highly respected by people, but greed blinded him, and he wanted to become rich at any cost.
The Rise of Dr. F: An Oncologist’s Ambition
We will call him Dr. F, an oncologist specializing in cancer treatment. Due to his expertise in the field, he earned a lot of respect, but he was still not wealthy. One day, a devilish thought crossed his mind: how could he finally become rich? He then devised a cunning scheme.
Deceptive Practices: The False Cancer Diagnosis
His plan was that whenever his patients came for check-ups, he would start telling them without any confirmation that they had cancer. Although it is entirely wrong to inform someone of a disease without diagnosis, he kept telling all patients that they had cancer, regardless of whether they actually did or not.
His method involved showing concern on his face and then, in a sorrowful tone, saying, “Oh, I’m sorry; you have cancer.” He would then send this false diagnosis information to the patient’s insurance company, which would pay him a hefty fee for expensive cancer treatments.
The Psychological Toll on Patients
Apart from Dr. F’s fraud, his biggest issue was convincing his patients of this lie—that they were dying from the disease. When patients learned about their supposed illness from the doctor with such certainty, they began to suffer from mental stress.
Along with this, they had to undergo painful treatments like chemotherapy, which could physically break down even a completely healthy person. But Dr. F did not care because his only goal was to make money and become rich.
The Illusion of Success: Building Wealth Through Lies
His clever scheme began to succeed, and he started earning money from all directions. He told more patients that they had cancer, and they immediately began coming for treatment. This way, money started flowing in for him, and soon he bought a magnificent mansion and expanded his business further.
Now he had seven different locations where he checked up on patients. With all this help, he continued to grow his fraudulent business and amassed immense wealth.
The Downfall: The Consequences of Deceit
Six years passed as Dr. F continued his deceitful practices, and his scheme kept succeeding rapidly. Every day brought him more money as he successfully diagnosed new patients with false cancer diagnosis.
These patients appeared to have no issues at all, but Dr. F assured them that they had cancer. Then these patients were given painful and dangerous chemotherapy drugs. The money obtained from insurance went straight into Dr. F’s pocket while the success of his business graph continued to rise.
The Turning Point: Monica’s Case
His scheme kept reaching new levels of success until finally Dr. F became a wealthy man. One day, a woman named Monica came to see Dr. F regarding her health issues. After talking with her, Dr. F immediately told her she had cancer even though there were no signs of it in Monica’s condition.
Dr. F instructed her to start treatment right away. Monica, already mentally and emotionally distressed, immediately began her treatment. However, after the first day of chemotherapy, she felt extremely weak and in pain.
Her condition worsened so much that while returning home she slipped and fell badly injuring her leg. After this incident, Monica returned to the clinic where she usually saw Dr. F for treatment but this time she could not meet him because he was off that day.
The Truth Revealed: Doctor So’s Investigation
Instead, another doctor named So examined Monica. Doctor So was honest and hardworking; he immediately checked Monica’s leg and also conducted a complete assessment of her body because Monica mentioned her supposed cancer diagnosis.
After the check-up, Doctor So was astonished to hear Monica say she had cancer when she clearly did not have such an illness.
Doctor So told Monica that she did not have cancer and was perfectly fine; he informed her that she absolutely did not need chemotherapy at all. He advised her not to meet Dr. F again.
This entire incident left Doctor So deeply troubled; he wondered why this was happening and began investigating the matter further. He carefully reviewed patient records, gathered evidence, and soon proved that Dr. F was lying to patients about having cancer just to extract money from them.
The Investigation Deepens: George’s Role
Meanwhile, Doctor So spoke with George in the clinic who was the office manager; George asked Doctor So if it was true that he was resigning? Doctor So replied affirmatively saying he was resigning due to suspicious activities occurring there.
George—who hadn’t thought much about it before—became worried after hearing Doctor So’s words and also began investigating the matter further. He checked patient records and interviewed staff while collecting crucial evidence.
When George gathered all the information and understood how deeply involved Dr. F was in this scheme, he provided all evidence to the FBI. The FBI took this matter seriously and involved the Medicare Fraud Strike Force—a credible agency established to combat such frauds.
Justice Served: The Arrest of Dr. F
Then the FBI raided Dr. F’s clinic and arrested him. During the investigation it emerged that Dr. F had falsely diagnosed over five hundred people with cancer just to obtain money from them through fraud.
Dr. F faced multiple serious charges in court which sentenced him to forty-five years in prison. Additionally, the court ordered him to return all money obtained through fraud from people.
