Ferrari renews Leclerc, and what happens with Carlos Sainz? – Ferrari has announced the renewal of Charles Leclerc for several years, without specifying the duration of his new contract.

Carlos Sainz’s agreement with the Maranello team ends at the end of this year… and also awaits renewal.
The Ferrari F1 team has announced the renewal of Charles Leclerc beyond the 2024 season, without specifying the duration of the contract that the Monegasque has just signed. Charles’ previous commitment ended at the end of this year, as did that of Carlos Sainz, whose renewal seems to be difficult to carry out.
As is normal, Formula 1 drivers hate starting a season knowing that their contract is ending and without being sure that it will be renewed. Therefore, it is common for these types of issues to be resolved before the course. The contracts of the two Ferrari drivers, Leclerc and Sainz, ended in 2024…
And Leclerc’s has already been renewed for the long term, which according to rumors coming from Italy would be until 2029 if both parties comply with what is stipulated in the document they have signed, and which probably incorporates numerous performance clauses.
Surely, this new contract also includes a higher salary for the young man trained in the Ferrari Academy, who has competed for the red team since 2019 .
Leclerc has now been racing for Ferrari for five seasons, a five-year period in which he has lacked a car powerful and reliable enough to fight for the title with Mercedes or Red Bull. In this period he has won five victories and one runner-up (2022 season). Since 2021, his teammate has been Carlos Sainz .
“I am very happy to know that I will continue wearing the Scuderia Ferrari suit for several more seasons ,” said Leclerc.
” I think the best is yet to come and I am looking forward to this season to continue progressing and being competitive in each race. My dream remains to win the championship with Ferrari and I am sure that in the coming years we will enjoy great moments together and we will make our fans happy,” he added.
Carlos Sainz’s renewal is delayed
Sainz’s renewal with Ferrari has not come with that of his teammate , as was believed to happen. Although the will of both parties would be to extend their commitment, with Ferrari president John Elkann having gone so far as to say that “Sainz and Leclerc will stay, there is a total will to continue working with them.”
Carlos has also publicly indicated that he wants to continue with the Scuderia, and wants to sign at least a contract that ensures his continuity in Maranello for two seasons. There are rumors that have suggested that Ferrari would have offered him a contract for only one more year, until the end of 2025, and thus be able to explore the driver market again on this date.
However, Sainz wants to face the next season with the peace of mind that he has his seat secured in two years’ time. After 2025, we will see… and in 2026 the grid will change, with the arrival of Audi to F1 , and new opportunities will probably open up. At Audi they have good references to the last name Sainz.
