8-Year-Old Girl Dies in Apparent Drowning at Houston Apartment Complex

HOUSTON, Texas — Houston police are investigating the apparent accidental drowning of an 8-year-old girl found at an apartment complex on Hycohen Road.

According to the Houston Police Department, the incident occurred around 6:10 p.m. on Monday (March 10) at 13511 Hycohen Road.

Officers responded to reports of a drowning and discovered the child in a retention pond. Houston Fire Department paramedics rushed her to Texas Children’s Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The girl’s identity is pending family notification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

The investigation is underway.
