FAISALABAD–The district police launched a crackdown last month, slashing crime rates and recovering over Rs 80 million worth of stolen property–proving they really hit the nail on the head.
Addressing a press conference at Police Lines on Saturday, City Police Officer Faisalabad Sahibzada Bilal Umar said that all available resources were deployed to bring down crime rates. He said that, thanks to the strenuous and dedicated efforts of the Faisalabad Police, a significant drop in crime has been recorded.
“The reduction in crime rate is the result of meticulous planning and teamwork,” Umar said.
To tackle criminal activities, checkpoints have been set up at all city entry and exit points. Besides, he said that patrols in hotspot areas have been intensified.
The CPO said that CCTV cameras with online monitoring systems have also been installed to prevent car thefts and other offenses.
He said that police stations, the Dolphin Force, DIB, and all departments have been actively targeting criminal networks.
During this crackdown, he claimed, extensive operations led to the recovery of stolen property. Some items have already been returned to their owners, and today (Saturday), property worth over Rs 80.4 million will be handed back to the rightful owners.
The items recovered by Faisalabad police include one Toyota Fortuner valued at Rs 20 million, 203 motorcycles worth over Rs 20.3 million, Gold jewelry, raw cloth, and cash totaling more than Rs 20.7 million, five cars worth over Rs 10 million, 56 mobile phones worth over Rs 2.3 million and eight rickshaws valued at over Rs 1.1 million.
The police have invited the owners of recovered property to collect them.
CPO Faisalabad emphasized that the police are taking strict measures to uphold the law and safeguard citizens’ lives and properties. New strategies are being deployed for effective patrolling, elite and Dolphin Force operations, and monitoring at police station, circle, and town levels.
He added that efforts are also underway to dismantle criminal strongholds, further reduce crime rates, and make Faisalabad a crime-free city.
“Every police officer is actively engaged in combating crime with courage,” he said.
Umer also highlighted that public cooperation is essential to complement police efforts.
