Houston, Texas — A man was taken into custody Wednesday morning after shooting his cousin and triggering a tense police standoff at a west Houston apartment complex.

The incident occurred around 9:35 a.m. at an apartment complex on 8400 Sands Point Drive.

According to the Houston Police Department (HPD), the situation began as a family argument but quickly spiraled out of control.
