UK automotive sector calls for further development of electric mobility – The British automotive sector has called on the government to accelerate the development of electric mobility, particularly through the development of charging stations.

“ Unlike electric vehicles, there are still no guidelines for the development of charging stations,” said the head of the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) trade association, Mike Hawes.
The number of charging stations will increase by 40 to 50% in 2023, but this is not enough, according to industry professionals in the United Kingdom.
The head of the SMMT association has criticized the fact that the minimum number of charging stations at motorway rest areas will not be reached this year.
On the other hand, according to him, autonomy is no longer a major problem. Most electric cars can now travel 200-300 miles on a single charge, but the average UK driver only covers 100 miles a week.
In Great Britain, the share of electric vehicles has recently increased significantly. In October, they represented 37.6% of all new registrations. Vehicles running solely on batteries increased for the 42nd consecutive month.
The government recently relaxed climate targets and pushed back the end of new combustion engine vehicles from 2030 to 2035.
