Three Officers Attacked at Vacaville Prison

Vacaville, CA –Three correctional officers were injured after an incarcerated man attacked them with an improvised weapon at the California Medical Facility in Vacaville, officials said Friday.

The incident occurred during an emergency cell extraction, according to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR). Authorities did not release the name of the attacker.

All three officers were treated at an outside hospital and have since been released.

The incarcerated man was also injured during the altercation and received treatment at a medical facility.

He is expected to be transferred to another institution once medically cleared, CDCR confirmed.

In a statement, the agency said: “Acts of violence against staff are unacceptable, and we remain committed to holding those responsible fully accountable.”

An internal investigation into the incident is underway.
