El Paso, Texas (KTSM) – A UPS driver and a woman were arrested in connection with a theft scheme, Horizon City Police Department announced on Wednesday, March 26.

Authorities identified the suspects as Jason Zubia, 44, and Monica Almanza, 46. Both face multiple charges, including theft of property, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of marijuana.

Zubia’s bond was set at $100,000, while Almanza’s bond was $35,000.

Investigation Uncovers Theft Scam

In February, Horizon Police received numerous complaints from residents about empty packages or missing deliveries.

Detectives collaborated with UPS Security to gather crucial information. Their investigation led them to Zubia, a UPS driver, and his accomplice, Almanza.

Search Warrant Leads to Arrest

With sufficient evidence, detectives secured a search warrant for a residence on Gaston Drive in El Paso.

During the search, officers recovered stolen items still in their original packaging with recipient addresses. Authorities also found discarded boxes and narcotics at the scene.

More Victims May Be Affected

Police believe other Horizon City residents and nearby communities may have been impacted without realizing it.

Anyone suspecting they were a victim can contact Sgt. L. Rodriguez at (915) 852-1047 for assistance.
