FORT WORTH, Texas — A Texas man has been charged with murder after allegedly telling a friend he “blacked out” and killed his girlfriend on Monday night.
Dylan Jones, 30, led Fort Worth police on a 40-minute chase, running red lights and driving on the wrong side of the road before officers used road spikes to stop his car, KXAS reported. He crashed soon after.
The incident began around 3 p.m. when police received a 911 call requesting a welfare check for 28-year-old Ariel Levy. The caller said Jones had told someone he “blacked out and thinks something bad happened,” according to the arrest warrant. When officers arrived at the couple’s apartment, no one answered the door, so they left.
At 6 p.m., another 911 call came from a man who said Jones had shown up at his home and admitted to killing Levy. Police said a witness at the scene tried to keep Jones there, but he fled.
As officers spoke with the witnesses, Jones drove by in Levy’s car. Police tried to stop him, but he sped off, leading to the chase.
After the crash, officers found Jones armed with a .380 pistol and used a taser to subdue him.
Meanwhile, police searched the apartment where Jones lived with Levy. They found Levy dead from an apparent gunshot wound, with an empty shell casing next to her body matching Jones’ gun.
Police said Jones refused to cooperate during questioning.
Along with the murder charge, he faces an additional count of evading arrest, KDFW reported. His bond has not yet been set.
