SMITHERS, B.C. – After months of searching, Smithers RCMP have arrested Jonathan Wilson, who had been wanted since October 2024.

Wilson faces several charges, including assault by choking, forcible confinement, obstructing a peace officer, and multiple probation violations.

“The seriousness of these charges highlights the importance of this arrest,” said Staff Sgt. Mark Smaill. “Our team remains committed to keeping the community safe through proactive policing and cooperation.”

Police had previously sought public assistance in locating Wilson on October 30, 2024.

In a recent statement, they acknowledged the community’s role in helping resolve the case.

Wilson was taken into custody on March 13 after officers executed a search warrant at a residence in Fort Babine.

He is currently being held in custody, with a court date to be determined.

“Our officers work tirelessly to ensure public safety, and I commend their persistence in locating this individual,” said Sgt. Ryan Law.
