HOUSTON — Residents of Sharpstown are on edge following multiple random shooting incidents in their usually peaceful neighborhood.

Surveillance cameras on Prestwood Drive near Fondren have captured gunfire from passing vehicles over the past three weeks, leaving residents confused and concerned.

Sean Bond, a homeowner in the area, has documented several instances of gunfire. His security footage shows different vehicles, including an SUV, firing shots on the street.

In one case, an individual was seen using what appeared to be a rifle.

“One of the videos shows a white Chevy driving down the street and firing what we think is an AR-15, based on the shell casings found outside,” Bond explained.

“Then they turned around and fired again further down the street. We searched for bullet holes but didn’t find anything yet—but time will tell.”

Another alarming incident earlier this month involved a dark-colored Nissan firing rounds while a contractor was working in Bond’s front yard.

Jared Cowan, a longtime resident of the neighborhood, is deeply unsettled by the situation.

“We checked for bullet holes around here and on the side street but didn’t find any,” Cowan said. “We have no idea why they’re shooting here. My biggest fear? Getting shot.”

Residents report at least seven similar incidents within the past three weeks.

Houston police have responded and are actively investigating, gathering security footage and other evidence to identify those responsible.

Bond is urging anyone with relevant information to come forward.

“If you see something, call the police. They have an open case on this, and we need to work together to stop it,” he said.

The community is taking proactive steps by collecting vehicle descriptions, security footage, and license plate numbers to assist law enforcement. Depending on the circumstances, the offenders could face charges ranging from unlawful discharge of a firearm to more severe penalties if someone is harmed.
