FAISALABAD (Staff Report):
Samanabad police claimed to have killed an alleged robber in an “encounter” on Sunday night.
The SHO of Samanabad was on routine patrol with other policemen when he spotted four armed men on two motorcycles.
Upon seeing the police, the suspects opened indiscriminate fire, forcing the officers to retaliate.
As the situation escalated, reinforcements, including Dolphin Force and other police units, were called to the scene.
The incident occurred near Aziz Town Road.
During the shootout, police claimed the suspects tried to flee towards Bhains Colony.
In the exchange of fire, one of the robbers was hit by bullets fired by his own accomplices and died on the spot.
Meanwhile, police managed to arrest a suspect, identified as Umar Farooq, who was found to have a criminal record with 22 cases of robbery and street crimes.
Two robbers managed to escape, taking advantage of the darkness.
Police said a large-scale search operation has been launched to track down the fugitives.
City Police Officer (CPO) Faisalabad, Sahibzada Bilal Umar, stated that criminals will be dealt with an iron hand and that the crackdown against lawbreakers is ongoing.
He urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the police.
