FAISALABAD (Web Desk): The welfare of the minority community is essential for the progress of the country, and both federal and Punjab governments are burning the midnight oil to protect their rights.
Adviser to the Prime Minister on Political and Public Affairs Rana Sanaullah, said this while addressing a special ceremony for the distribution of Minority Cards to the minority community on Sunday.
The ceremony was organized at the University of Agriculture Faisalabad, where Provincial Minister for Minority Affairs Ramesh Singh Arora, parliamentarians, and other notables were also present.
Rana Sanaullah said that, following the vision of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, numerous initiatives have been taken by Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz for the minorities.
Minorities at the Heart of Initiatives
He stressed that minorities are at the heart of all these initiatives.
He said that the distribution of Minority Cards is a significant step in providing identification to the minority community. This initiative aims to ease the financial burden the minorities are facing due to inflation.
Safeguarding Minority Rights
Addressing the gathering, Provincial Minister Ramesh Singh Arora said that consistent efforts have been made to safeguard minority rights and provide identification through the Minority Card.
He said that this initiative is another feather in the cap of the Punjab government, as it facilitates minority participation in various government schemes and programs.
This initiative will not only offer legal protection to minority members’ but also open doors to government facilities, he added.
He said that e-learning programs would also be launched in future for minority children, ensuring they are not left behind in the digital age.
Deputy Commissioner Faisalabad, Captain (R) Nadeem Nasir told the participants that after verification, nearly 8,000 minority members in Faisalabad district will be issued Minority Cards.
MPA Arif Mehmood Gill, Azma Jabeen Raja, Qudsia Batool, Vice Chancellor of Agricultural University Dr. Muhammad Sarwar, PML-N leaders Irfan Manan, Azad Ali Tabassum, Jaffer Ali Bocha, Faqir Hussain Dogar, Raja Daniyal, Malik Razaq Khalid, Rana Abbas, and others were also present.
