KENTVILLE, Nova Scotia – A 72-year-old chiropractor, Philip Louis LaPierre, is facing two more counts of sexual assault, according to Kentville Police Services.
Police launched an investigation in October 2023 after receiving a complaint from an individual who claimed they were sexually assaulted twice in 1983 by a licensed chiropractor.
As a result, authorities have now filed two additional charges against LaPierre.
LaPierre was previously charged in September 2024 with one count of sexual assault in connection to an alleged incident earlier this year. His trial is scheduled for the fall.
This is not the first time LaPierre has faced allegations. In 2007, he was charged with sexual assault but was acquitted in court.
However, the Nova Scotia College of Chiropractors found him guilty of professional misconduct and issued a reprimand.
In 2008, LaPierre was disciplined again for professional misconduct related to earlier offenses. He was fined $2,500.
LaPierre is not currently practicing as he awaits legal proceedings. He is scheduled to appear in court in April 2025 to address the new charges.
