ODESSA, Texas–Odessa Police are alerting residents about a scam involving fake dachshund puppy sales.

Victims are tricked into sending payments but never receive the promised dog.

According to police, a scammer is pretending to sell puppies through a fraudulent website that falsely lists the Odessa Animal Shelter’s address.

The suspect uses a fake name and account, demanding payments through Apple Pay or Apple Pay gift cards.

Authorities emphasize that this is a scam. Odessa Animal Services is not a breeder and does not request payments in this way.

Officials also remind residents that selling animals in Odessa requires a permit.

To avoid falling for similar scams, always verify sellers, use secure payment methods, and never send money through gift cards.

If you suspect fraud, report it to the Odessa Police Department.
