Staff Report
LAHORE: As many as 250 acres of land has been allocated for Phase Two of the Lahore Press Club Housing Scheme, located near Thokar Niaz Beg on Lahore-Multan Road.
All members of the Lahore Press Club who have received allotment letters must submit these letters to the Lahore Press Club by January 25; no bank draft is required.
Non-members must submit their allotment letters to DGPR.
After the plots draw, two installments of Rs 60,000 each will need to be deposited.
The Government of Punjab will pay to Ravi Urban Development Authority (RUDA) for the purchase of this land, while members will pay only development charges.
These decisions were made in a meeting of the Punjab Journalists Housing Foundation, chaired by Information Minister Uzma Bukhari.
The meeting was attended by RUDA CEO Imran Amin, PJHF DMD Awais Nawaz, Lahore Press Club President Arshad Ansari, and other board members.
CEO RUDA announced that the allocated land on Lahore-Multan Road will have access between Parkview Housing Society and Eden Homes Housing Society, with all development work managed by RUDA.
It was also decided that within two weeks, Phase Two club members should submit their forms at the club, while non-members should submit theirs to DGPR; all allottees will have the same conditions.
Besides, a commercial area will be constructed immediately in Harbanspura Journalist Colony, and a new bridge will be built by expanding the existing one on Main Road.
The construction of the main gate for Block F is also starting, with two designs presented; however, it was agreed to enhance and beautify the design before construction begins after approval.
The board also decided to consult with senior members of the Board of Revenue about restoring ownership in Harbanspura Journalist Colony and to meet with the Chief Minister of Punjab regarding this matter.
Lahore Press Club President Arshad Ansari stated that they focus on actions rather than promises. He emphasized that 2025 will be a year of development for Phase Two and Block F, and any outstanding work in Harbanspura Journalist Colony will also be completed this year.
He described 2025 as a gift for them, as plot balloting will occur after allotment letters are issued. He acknowledged that paying 60,000 immediately with forms is challenging for members; thus, it was stressed that forms should be submitted first and payments made after plot balloting.
This decision received support from the Punjab Information Minister and Secretary of Information.
On this occasion, President Arshad Ansari thanked Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and Information Minister Uzma Bukhari, affirming that the Punjab government is committed to fulfilling its promises to journalists
