FAISALABAD: Four armed robbers subjected two women to gang-rape and escaped with booty worth hundreds of thousands of rupees in Jhumlar Singla, in the remit of Saddar Kamalia police.
Regional Police Officer Zeeshan Asghar has sought a report on the incident from the District Police Officer of Toba Tek Singh.
Submitting an application to the police, Muhammad Akram of Tara Haveli, Kamalia, said that around midnight on Friday, he was sleeping in the fields, watching over his watermelon crop, when four robbers–armed to the teeth–held him at gunpoint. They threatened him with dire consequences if he raised the alarm.
He said the robbers asked him to lead them to his home. Upon reaching, he said they forced their way inside as his wife, Tahira, opened the door in response to his call.
Family Held Hostage at Gunpoint During Terrifying Attack
The assailants stormed in and held Tahira, his sister-in-law Rani Bibi, and his brother-in-law Muhammad Ali at gunpoint. Akram said the robbers demanded all the valuables in the house.
He said that two bandits tied up him and Muhammad Ali inside a room and locked it from the outside.
Meanwhile, the other two culprits dragged women to an open space, where they forcibly stripped and gang-raped Tahira and Rani Bibi at gunpoint.
After committing the heinous crime, he said the criminals locked the women in the same room and threatened to kill them if they made a sound.
Before fleeing, Akram said that intruders also looted jewelry worth Rs 330,000, cash of Rs 10,000, a laser-level computer machine, and a tractor battery.
Akram claimed that he managed to break free after approximately ten minutes and raised a hue and cry, drawing the attention of nearby villagers.
Police registered a case under sections 376 and 392 of the Pakistan Penal Code with no arrest.
Police Teams Deployed; Forensics and Evidence Collection Underway
Regional police spokesperson Dr. Muhammad Rizwan said that the RPO directed the DPO Toba Tek Singh to form special teams to track down the criminals.
He said on being informed of the incident, the investigation teams, officials from the Punjab Forensic Science Agency, and senior police officers visited the spot and collected evidence.
The RPO also instructed the concerned officers to visit the ill-fated family and assure them that justice would be served.
