Three men have been charged with murder in connection to last month’s fatal shooting at an Irving apartment complex, police announced Friday.
The shooting happened around 5 a.m. on February 23 in the 3800 block of Evergreen Street. Officers arrived to find 37-year-old Torrance Deveroex with gunshot wounds.
He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Shortly after the shooting, police released surveillance footage from the apartment complex. The video showed three men walking out of frame before gunshots were heard.
Moments later, they reappeared, running toward the complex’s parking lot.
Investigators identified the suspects as:
Roderick Dansby, 25
Kendrick Perry, 24
Deandre Williams, 26
Williams was arrested on Wednesday. Officers found a firearm in his possession, which they believe was used in the shooting.
Perry and Dansby were taken into custody on Thursday.
All three men face first-degree murder charges — a crime punishable by 5 to 99 years in prison.
Jail records show Perry and Williams are being held in the Dallas County Jail without bail, while Dansby is in the Irving jail with no bail set.
Authorities have not yet revealed the motive behind the killing. When asked for more details about the arrests, police spokesperson Anthony Alexander advised reporters to file open records requests for the arrest warrant affidavits.
Torrance Deveroex was the eldest son of Deanna Hammond, the Dallas County Constable for Precinct 2.
“I am a woman of faith, but I still don’t understand why they took my baby,” Hammond said in an interview with KDFW-TV on March 5.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Irving Police Department.
