A 30-year-old man lost his life after suffering a stab wound to the leg during a domestic incident with his live-in girlfriend in southwest Houston on Monday, according to reports from Click2Houston.

Houston police arrived at the 9000 block of South Braeswood Boulevard to find the man critically injured.

Emergency responders tried to save him, but he was declared dead shortly after they reached the scene.

The woman involved, who remained at the location, admitted to playing a role in the stabbing.

She reportedly called 911 herself and made efforts to keep the man alive until help arrived.

Authorities are still trying to determine the events that led to the fatal wound.

Her full statement has not been made public yet, as per Click2Houston.

After reviewing the case with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, officials decided the situation needs further legal examination and referred it to a grand jury, FOX 26 Houston reported.

So far, no formal charges have been filed against the girlfriend.

The Houston Police Department continues to investigate and urges anyone with details about the incident to reach out to the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600.
