HOUSTON, Texas — A deadly shooting took place early today at 5900 Elm Street, leaving a 17-year-old male dead and a 34-year-old man injured, according to the Houston Police Department.
The case is set to be reviewed by a Harris County grand jury.
Houston police officers responded to reports of gunfire at an apartment complex and found an unresponsive male with gunshot wounds in the parking lot.
Paramedics from the Houston Fire Department pronounced him dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, a second victim, a 34-year-old man, was taken to the hospital by private vehicle and is expected to recover.
According to the preliminary investigation, two male suspects attempted to rob an armed individual.
After being shot, the victim returned fire, fatally striking one of the suspects. The second suspect fled the scene on foot.
He is described as a Hispanic male, between 18 and 20 years old, and approximately 5 feet 5 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall.
The Harris County District Attorney’s Office has been notified, and a grand jury will review the case.
