HOUSTON — Houston police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run that occurred on Tuesday afternoon.

Details of the Incident

The crash took place at approximately 12:50 p.m. on Chapman Street.

Witnesses reported that a red Cadillac Escalade struck a man and then sped away.

Surveillance footage captured the vehicle fleeing the scene.

The victim, a man in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene.


What Remains Unclear

The exact circumstances leading to the crash are still under investigation.

The case has been handed over to the Houston Police Department’s Vehicular Crimes Division.

Although the victim has been identified, his name has not yet been released to the public.


Official Statement

Lt. Va’Shawnda McLean of the Houston Police Department said, “The victim was an African-American male, approximately 40 to 45 years old. He was well-known and loved by family, friends, and neighbors.”
