HOUSTON, East Bank Demerara – A 29-year-old man was hospitalized with multiple stab wounds after accusing someone of stealing from him.
The victim, Andy Sugrim, was attacked around 4:00 p.m. Wednesday on Back Street in Houston, according to a police statement.
Sugrim was reportedly drinking at a local shop when he confronted another man—known only by the nickname “Toe Toe”—about theft.
The two men, who are familiar with each other, exchanged heated words after Sugrim allegedly told the suspect to “stop the thief.
Police say the confrontation quickly escalated. Enraged, the suspect pulled a knife and stabbed Sugrim multiple times before fleeing the scene.
Sugrim was rushed to Georgetown Public Hospital, where doctors performed emergency surgery.
Medical staff confirmed he had three stab wounds to the left side of his abdomen and a deep slash from his ear to his lip. He is currently in stable condition.
Authorities searched the area for the suspect but were unable to locate him. Several witnesses were questioned, but no helpful leads have emerged so far.
Investigators are still working to track down “Toe Toe.”
