A Houston man has been charged with murder after allegedly shooting his brother during a dispute.
Juan Antonio Meza Cruz, 31, was arrested in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred around 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday, March 19.
The incident took place in the 7500 block of Manning Lane.
Authorities have yet to verify the identity of the 28-year-old victim through the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
However, Houston police confirmed that the deceased was Meza Cruz’s brother.
Houston Police Department (HPD) homicide detectives reported that officers arrived at the scene and found the victim lying unresponsive in the driveway.
He had suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Paramedics from the Houston Fire Department pronounced him dead at the scene.
Investigators gathered statements from witnesses, which indicated that Meza Cruz shot his brother following an argument.
The reason behind the dispute remains unknown.
Police swiftly tracked down Meza Cruz’s location and arrested him shortly after the shooting.
The Harris County District Attorney’s Office later filed a murder charge against him.
He has since been booked into the Harris County Jail.
The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to uncover more details about the case.
