Services of the Pakistani fast bowler—Hassan Ali—are not available against the mighty and free-scorer South Africa in the crucial match of ICC World Cup 2023 today at the Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

The bowler was sidelined as he is suffering from fever and would not be in a position to support the Men in Green who are struggling a lot to ensure their presence in this quadrennial tournament.

Majority of the cricket-lovers are of the view that this time Pakistan cricket team will not be in a position to secure their position in the semi-finals and absence of Hassan Ali will prove to be a blow for this beleaguered side.

During the practice session on Thursday, Hasan Ali was also absent bolstering the rumors that the pacer lacked strength to bowl against the Proteas. Hassan Ali has a large fan base due to his signature style of celebration—the generator.

The Pakistani skipper Babar Azam and team officials met to devise the strategy against the invincible South African team and Muhammad Nawaz would replace Hassan Ali in today’s game. It was also decided that pitch conditions would help them to ascertain who would be the spinner in today’s clash.

The Pakistan Cricket Board in a statement confirmed that Hasan Ali will be out of the game due to the sickness.

Another pacer Muhammad Wasim Jr. is waiting for the management nod to exhibit his skills against the Proteas, however, it is yet to be decided who would face South Africa today, Wasim Jr. or Osama Mir. Cricket enthusiasts are posting on social media in favor of Wasim Jr. and terming it a best replacement of Hassan Ali.

Till today, the Green Shirts are under tremendous pressure and two days ago the Pakistan Cricket Board had also appealed to the Pakistani cricket-lovers to support the team rather than to criticize them. The board categorically mentioned that feelings of the cricket-fans are acknowledged, however, at a critical juncture our players need their support.

Pakistan team is experiencing the fluctuating fate as the cricket giant India trounced it on Oct 14 and Australia outclassed the Men in Green on Oct 20. On Oct 23, the cricket-lovers were expecting that Pakistan would improve its position by defeating Afghanistan, however, the situation remained otherwise.

In an encounter with South Africa, absence of Hasan Ali is expected to dent the Pakistan team which is already facing daunting challenges. Today’s match is very important for Pakistan in this ICC World Cup 2023 to secure a place in the semi-finals.

Katab Hussain, a cricket lover, said that it would be a great setback for the Men in Green to play without Hassan Ali, who is also considered a backbone of the Pakistan bowling line. However, the spirit of the team is high and they will try their level best to outshine the mighty South Africa.  

He said the cricket-fans still believe that Pakistan is capable to shine in the ICC World Cup 2023 and ensure its position in the semi-finals.
