WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — A Georgia man has been sentenced to life in prison after DNA evidence linked him to a 2010 rape case that had remained unsolved for 13 years.
According to the Houston County District Attorney’s Office, Dendrick Devonte Solomon, who was 17 at the time, broke into a Warner Robins home and assaulted a woman after knocking her unconscious.
The case went cold until 2023, when DNA from the crime scene matched Solomon in the CODIS database.
Investigators say the victim woke up in the middle of the night and found Solomon in her living room.
When she called out, he attacked her, biting her finger, punching her, and rendering her unconscious before the assault.
Authorities collected a DNA sample from under the victim’s fingernails, but no match was found at the time.
In August 2023, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation informed Warner Robins police that a match had been identified in their system.
Solomon pleaded guilty and was sentenced to life in prison on Thursday. The judge allowed the possibility of parole.
Houston County District Attorney Eric Edwards credited forensic advancements and law enforcement persistence for solving the case.
