Although they are not direct rivals, it is true that they can compete to achieve sales among all those buyers who want something economical and easy to drive.
Segment A and B urban vehicles are the most interesting if you are looking for an electric car that is economical, since it is precisely in the city where they will perform best and will be most efficient in terms of consumption and autonomy.
Furthermore, if you want to buy an affordable electric car in 2024, there are more and more options within this market niche.
Two of the most interesting to take into account for a possible purchase are the Fiat 500 and the Citroën ë-C3. For this reason, we are going to confront them in a technical comparison based strictly on approved data and figures, where we will analyze dimensions, trunk, engine, battery and autonomy, standard equipment, and prices. In the end, we will draw some conclusions.
Dimensions
As these are two models with a marked urban character, the exterior measurements are key to being able to drive a car that is easy to park and very maneuverable in the city.
In the case of the Fiat 500, it has a length of 3,570 mm, a width of 1,690 mm, and a height of 1,490 mm, all on a new platform that has a 2,320 mm wheelbase.
For its part, the Citroën ë-C3 is somewhat larger than its rival in this technical comparison and has a clear SUV style. Being a B segment vehicle, it has a body that reaches 4,015 mm in length, 1,755 mm in width, and 1,575 mm in height, as well as a wheelbase of 2,540 mm.
Trunk
As for the trunk, although it is not the strong point of an urban vehicle, it is interesting if it offers enough space. The Fiat model has a volumetric capacity of 185 liters and a four-seat interior in a 2+2 configuration.
Meanwhile, the Citroën model lands on the market with a cargo compartment that offers up to 310 liters of volumetric capacity in an interior with five seats.
Engines
The Fiat 500 engine offering is made up of two different propulsion systems. On the one hand, we have an entry-level version that offers 70 kW (95 HP) of power. On the other, an 87 kW (118 HP) engine. Both send power to the front axle.
The same happens with the Citroën ë-C3, although at the moment, it is only available with one engine. The system in question has a total power of 83 kW (113 HP). Despite this, a version will be added later that will have somewhat less power and approved autonomy, and will also be more economical.
Battery and Autonomy
The battery options for the electric Fiat 500 include a 23.7 kWh unit for the less powerful version, which allows it to approve up to 190 kilometers of autonomy per charge. For its part, the most powerful model has a battery with 42 kWh of energy capacity, enough to provide up to 330 kilometers of range.
The only version available in the new electric Citroën ë-C3 is the one that equips a battery with a 44 kWh energy capacity, which allows up to 320 kilometers of autonomy to be approved on a single charge.
The version that will arrive in the coming months announces about 200 kilometers of autonomy between charges.
Standard Equipment
At the equipment level, the entry-level finish of the 500e includes 15-inch steel wheels, light sensor, 7-inch digital controls, USB and 12V socket, LED rear lights, fatigue detector, and emergency call. emergency, manual climate control, electric mirrors, electric parking brake, driving modes, and push-button start, among others.
For its part, the entry-level ë-C3 (You finish) has standard equipment elements such as air conditioning, Citroën Advanced Comfort suspension, cruise control with speed limit, rear parking sensors, Head-up Display, active safety brake, lane departure warning, speed limit recognition, and LED headlights.
Prices
And if we talk about prices, the Fiat 500 is on sale in Spain from 28,250 euros without discounts or promotions applied, with the 95 HP engine, the 23.7 kWh battery, and a range of 190 kilometers. With the purchase aid from the MOVES III Plan (available until July 31), this price is reduced to 21,250 euros for scrapping an old car.
Regarding the price of the Citroën ë-C3, which is now officially on sale, the model is on sale from 23,800 euros in the You version of access to the range, with 113 HP, 44 kWh battery, and up to 320 kilometers of autonomy. With the MOVES III Plan discounts, this price can be reduced to 16,800 euros.
