FAISALABAD (GL News)– Two alleged criminals were killed in an encounter with the Crime Control Department (CCD) Faisalabad on Thursday.
The CCD spokesperson said that Inspector Siddique Cheema, In-Charge CCD Lyallpur Division, was on way in connection with a raid when they spotted armed suspects robbing people near 79-Moor–within the jurisdiction of Thikriwala Police Station. The suspects had blocked the road using bushes and stones.
He said upon seeing the CCD team, the criminals opened indiscriminate and direct fire. The CCD officers retaliated in self-defense, and during the exchange of fire, the suspects abandoned their motorcycle and fled toward a nearby orchard.
Once the guns fell silent, he said, the CCD team launched a search operation in the area and managed to apprehend two wounded suspects from the nearby fields. Both had sustained injuries from their accomplices’ firing.
Identification of the Arrested Criminals
Upon interrogation, the arrested suspects were identified as: Bilal Haider, a resident of Hajveri Town — a notorious criminal with a record of more than 50 cases of serious offenses.
The spokesperson said that he had previously been involved in an armed encounter with Dolphin Force in the jurisdiction of City Sammundri Police Station in 2021. Besides, he was also involved in a rape and murder case.
The second injured criminal was identified as Shehzad Khalid of Chak 214. He also had a criminal record, with over 20 cases of robbery and theft to his name.
The spokesperson added that two other unidentified suspects managed to flee the scene and special teams have been formed to trace and apprehend the absconders.
The injured suspects were taken to a local hospital but succumbed to their injuries shortly after arrival, he added.
