FAISALABAD: District police successfully recovered a doctor who had been kidnapped for a ransom of Rs 20 million.
Addressing a press conference on Saturday, the acting City Police Officer (CPO), Rana Abdul Wahab, said that Dr. Abdul Samad, was abducted on Jan 25 last.
Details of the Abduction
He said that the complainant, Javed Akhtar, reported to the Khurrianwala Police that Dr. Samad, an MBBS doctor, was taken after he left for his clinic in Chak 200 RB, Lattiahn in his car (registration number 4632-LEB).
The family tried to reach Dr. Samad, but their attempts were in vain. He said Akhtar then received a call from the kidnappers who demanded a ransom of Rs. 20 million.
Police Response and Investigation
A case (202/25) under section 365-A of the Pakistan Penal Code was registered at Khurrianwala Police Station.
He said that a special team, led by him, was formed to ensure the recovery of the victim. The team included senior officers such as SP Jaranwala, SP of OCU, DSP of Sadar Circle, DSP of Circle Khurrianwala, the SHO Khurrianwala Police Station, and the Investigation Officer.
The team left no stone unturned to safely recover Dr. Samad. The police used advanced technology and resources to track down the kidnappers, he claimed.
Recovery and Arrests
Through joint efforts, he said that Dr. Samad was successfully recovered from the area of Chak Jhumrah, and four alleged kidnappers were arrested.
Besides, he said the police also recovered the victim’s car.
The kidnappers had demanded a ransom of Rs. 20 million, which posed a major challenge for the police and raised safety concerns for Dr.Samad.
Ongoing Investigation and Recognition
He mentioned that the investigation of the case is underway and the accused will face the music.
The acting CPO announced that the policemen who went the extra mile on this case would receive certificates of appreciation.
