FAISALABAD: Hostel owners falling within the remit of the Gulberg police circle have been asked to tow the line and refrain from renting their properties to workers or people lacking official documents.
These instructions were issued during a meeting chaired by the ASP Gulberg, Rajinder Meghwar, on Saturday. The meeting was convened to discuss the implementation of enhanced safety measures at the private hostels.
During the meeting, both sides put their heads together to address various issues, ensuring that efforts can be made to secure the safety and well-being of hostel residents.
Key Safety Measures Implemented
The ASP Meghwar asked hostel owners prominently display a signboard outside their premises. He also asked them to keep an eye on the entry and exit points by installing security cameras (CCTV) to effectively track the movement of visitors and residents. Hostel owners have also been directed to register tenant and owner details with the relevant police station promptly.
ASP Rajinder Meghwar also asked the hostel owners to possess a valid registration certificate issued by the police station. A complete record of all residents, including employees, along with their personal details, should be maintained in a hostel register, the ASP emphasized.
Restrictions on Residents
He said that residents without valid identification cards should not be allowed to remain in the hostels. Besides, he asked them to refrain from renting hostel rooms to workers. Only students should be allowed to stay in private hostels.
Hostel owners were instructed to maintain a log of arrivals and departures of residents. They must also issue hostel ID cards to all residents. Strict adherence to hostel timings was emphasized, with girls’ hostels required to close their gates by 9 PM and boys’ hostels by 10 PM.
Hostel Operations
Concluding the meeting, ASP Gulberg, Rajinder Meghwar, stressed the importance of ensuring these safety measures to prevent unfortunate incidents. He urged hostel owners to cooperate with the policy by fully implementing the directives immediately so that a secure environment can be ensured for all.
