LAHORE: District police Faisalabad claimed to have arrested 166 proclaimed offenders and recovered drugs worth hundreds of thousands of rupees during a fortnight-long operation.
Operation Under the Supervision of CPO Faisalabad
The police spokesperson said that the operation is underway under the supervision of the City Police Officer (CPO) Faisalabad, DIG Kamran Adil.
He said that the operation had been launched across the district, and all police stations were actively working to purge the district of criminal elements.
Arrests and Recoveries Made During the Operation
Over the past two weeks, he said that the police had arrested 166 proclaimed offenders, 50 of whom were involved in serious crimes. Similarly, he said that 15 members of 6 gangs were also arrested, and stolen property worth Rs 42.4 million was recovered.
Stolen Property Returned to Its Owners
The recovered items included 3 rickshaws, 28 motorcycles, 4 mobile phones, and 4 laptops. The victims had been deprived of their property through theft, robbery, and dacoity.
He said that the stolen property had been returned to its rightful owners.
Action Against Gambling and Drug Peddling
During actions against those involved in gambling, he said that 25 cases had been registered during this fortnightly operation, and 102 suspects had been taken into custody.
Similarly, he said that the police had also kept drug-peddlers on their toes, registering 250 cases. A total of 74.955 kilograms of charas, 1.509 kg of ice, 7.415 kg of heroin, 34.5 kg of bhang, 3,238 liters of liquor, and poppy husk had been seized from their possession.
Zero Tolerance Towards Illegal Weapons
He said that police were showing zero tolerance toward illegal weapons with 179 cases registered against persons found possessing illegal firearms. During this operation, he said that 143 pistols, 9 Kalashnikovs, 7 rifles, 6 shotguns, 17 repeaters, 1 carbine, and 1 revolver, along with numerous bullets and cartridges, were recovered.
Ensuring the Rule of Law and Citizen Protection
Strict actions are being taken against wrong elements to ensure the rule of law and protect the lives and properties of citizens. He said that an effective strategy for patrolling had been devised. Besides, monitoring of the Elite and Dolphin Force operations, as well as personnel at police stations, is also being ensured.
He said that CPO Faisalabad had actively engaged every police officer in the operations.
