LAHORE (Staff Report): Faisalabad police have breathed new life into the Eagle Squad, initially deploying it across two dozen police stations of three divisions.
After assuming the charge of his post, the City Police Officer (CPO) Faisalabad, Sahibzada Bilal Umar, reviewed security arrangements and detected that the Eagle Squad was not working efficiently. He left no stone unturned in assessing the root cause of the Eagle Squad’s downtime and decided to revamp it to tighten the net on crime.
Launching Ceremony and Briefing
The launching ceremony took place at Faisalabad Police Lines on Friday.
Before deploying, the CPO thoroughly briefed the squad members.
SSP Operations Malik Tahir Mehboob and other officials were also present.
The CPO said that the Eagle Squad will initially operate in 23 police stations across Lyallpur, Madina, and Iqbal divisions. A total of 92 policemen will hit the ground running on 46 motorbikes.
Equipping the Squad
He said that due to shortage of manpower and limited resources, the Eagle Squad (motorbike patrol) had been inactive. However, now the squad is equipped with modern weapons, bulletproof jackets, and flashlights. They will patrol high-risk areas during evening and night shifts, ensuring criminals don’t slip through the cracks, he added.
Core Responsibility and Advanced Technology
Protecting the lives and properties of the denizens of Faisalabad is the prime responsibility of Faisalabad Police. Besides, he said the squad has also been provided with advanced technology, including the E-Police App and Crime Prevention App, to stay ahead of the curve.
Enhanced Communication and Supervision
Wireless communication devices have also been issued, allowing for real-time tracking via wireless networks.
SSP Operations will keep an eye on their performance to ensure the squad remains firing on all cylinders.
