Wharton, TX –A promising young bull rider, Dylan Grant, 24, from Wyoming, died after being thrown from a bull during a competition at the Wharton County Youth Fair Xtreme Bulls event.
The incident occurred during the second round of the bull riding contest on Thursday night.
Grant was immediately taken to Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center in Houston, where he succumbed to his injuries, according to Click2Houston.
Grant joined the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) in May 2018 and became an official cardholder in February 2024.
His career showed great promise, with notable achievements including an 86.5-point ride at the Mountain States Circuit Finals Rodeo in Loveland, Colorado.
In 2021, he secured a bull riding title while competing with the University of Wyoming rodeo team.
He had earned $15,710 in career winnings before his untimely death.

In an official statement, the PRCA expressed condolences:
“The PRCA would like to send its thoughts and prayers to bull rider Dylan Grant’s family, friends, and the entire rodeo/bull riding community after Grant passed away Thursday night.”
Kendra Santos from the Wharton County Youth Fair also shared her grief, saying, “Our rodeo family lost a talented young cowboy last night.
There are no worthy words of sympathy at a time of such profound shock and sadness.”
The rodeo world is mourning the loss of a dedicated athlete who had a bright future in the sport.
