Bryan, TX – A Bryan man has been sentenced to 27 months in federal prison for conspiring to transport undocumented immigrants in a way that endangered lives, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Texas.
Federal officials confirmed that 20-year-old Alexzander JM Bisbee received his sentence in a Del Rio federal court.
Incident and Arrest
Court records show that on July 3, 2024, a U.S. Border Patrol agent stopped an SUV traveling south on U.S. Route 377.
The driver, identified as 22-year-old Mark Anthony Sanchez, was accompanied by Bisbee. During the stop, three undocumented immigrants fled into the brush.
Sanchez then attempted to evade authorities, leading agents on a pursuit.
He was later stopped by Sonora Police Department for speeding, and both he and Bisbee were ordered out of the vehicle.
Weapons and Smuggling Scheme
A search of the SUV uncovered two 9mm semiautomatic pistols, including an AR-15-style pistol.
Authorities later located two of the undocumented immigrants who had fled.
Bisbee admitted that an “unindicted coconspirator” had recruited him via Instagram, offering $2,000 per person for transporting undocumented immigrants.
Criminal History and Sentencing
At the time of his arrest, Bisbee was a convicted felon, previously found guilty of burglary of a building.
He pleaded guilty to the smuggling charge on November 20, 2024.
Sanchez also pleaded guilty on December 18, and his sentencing is scheduled for May 13, 2025.
Law Enforcement Involvement
The case was investigated by U.S. Border Patrol, with assistance from the Sutton County Sheriff’s Office and Sonora Police Department.
Assistant U.S. Attorneys Jayvee Rhoda and Joshua Banister led the prosecution.
