A late-night fire in the Brays Oaks neighborhood left one person hospitalized and caused around $75,000 in property damage.
The Houston Fire Department (HFD) responded to an apartment fire at 10555 Fondren Rd around 11:13 p.m. last night.
Firefighters arrived to find a two-story apartment building engulfed in flames.
A total of 49 firefighters from multiple stations, including Stations 68, 82, 2, 59, 48, 51, 10, and 24, worked together to put out the fire. Rescue 10 was also dispatched.
Crews launched an aggressive attack on the flames and conducted a primary search due to reports of trapped residents.
One person sustained burns and smoke inhalation while escaping before firefighters arrived. They were taken to the hospital for treatment.
The fire was contained to a single unit but caused water damage to the apartment below.
CenterPoint Energy shut off power to affected units to prevent further hazards. Firefighters also used fans to clear out lingering smoke.
Thanks to the quick response, firefighters saved over $15.9 million worth of property. HFD’s Arson Investigators are still working to determine the exact cause of the fire.
