FAISALABAD: With the help of cutting-edge technology and unwavering resolve, the Punjab Highway Patrol (PHP) has ensured the implementation of law coupled with extending invaluable assistance to citizens in need.
The PHP has released its annual progress report of 2024 narrating that last year, the force checked 31.4 million people on highways using the e-Police Post app and arrested 6,537 proclaimed offenders and fugitives.
The Punjab Highway Patrol officials inspected as many as 18.8 million vehicles with the help of modern technology and recovered 3,350 stolen vehicles and motorcycles.
Legal action was also taken against 869,000 overloaded vehicles on charges of axle load violations. Over 12,000 vehicles faced legal action across Punjab for illegal gas cylinder use.
In consideration of citizens’ convenience, last year PHP issued 148,000 driving licenses and reunited 678 missing children with their parents. The PHP officials also help improve traffic flow by removing 5,005 temporary and permanent encroachments.
The PHP provided various types of assistance and guidance to over 112,000 travelers facing difficulties on highways across Punjab.
At police service centers, the PHP employees assisted 119,000 citizens with various types of help and guidance.
A total of 1,093 cases were registered against the persons on charges of carrying illegal weapons.
The PHP recovered 20,925 liters of alcohol, 400 kilograms of hashish, 53 kilograms of opium, and 5.5 kilograms of heroin from drug dealers.
The Inspector General of Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar praised PHP for their excellent performance.
The IGP urged the PHP officials to work hard with sincerity to ensure traffic flow and citizen service.
