Early Sunday morning, a tragic accident took place on Briley Street in Houston, killing a 74-year-old woman.
The crash occurred in the 2200 block at about 6:55 a.m., according to the City of Houston’s official news site.
The victim’s identity has not been confirmed yet and is awaiting verification from the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
The Houston Police Department’s Vehicular Crimes Division said a brown Nissan Murano was heading north when it suddenly went off the road for unknown reasons.
The car crossed a ditch and crashed into several trees on the west side of the street.
Only the Nissan was involved in the accident, and no other people or vehicles were part of the crash, as stated by the City of Houston.
The driver was seriously injured and taken to Ben Taub General Hospital. The area where the car stopped has now returned to normal after being briefly closed for emergency response, according to the City of Houston.
